Residents of Citrus County are speaking out on various local issues, including a $39 million waste claim and concerns about mail delivery and roadside tree planting. On April 24, 2026, the Citrus County Chronicle published a series of letters to the editor, highlighting the concerns of citizens.
In one letter, a resident expressed frustration with Commissioner Diana Finegan, stating that she “just toes the line” for the MAGA Republican Tallahassee crowd and fails to provide specific solutions to problems. The resident also criticized the commissioners for not addressing the $39 million waste claim effectively.
Another resident raised concerns about a burn ban, urging authorities to enforce stricter penalties for those who burn trash, citing the risk to people’s lives, air quality, and land. The resident suggested that offenders should face a $50,000 penalty, rather than the current $500 fine.
A third resident expressed frustration with the United States Postal Service’s mail delivery schedule in the Highlands District of Inverness. The resident noted that while their usual contractor delivers mail in the morning, the USPS delivers mail late in the evening, around 5:30 or 6:30 PM.
A fourth resident criticized the planting of trees along the Suncoast Parkway, stating that the wrong trees were planted in the wrong locations.
