Brooksville Resident Charged with Manslaughter After Fatal Bow and Arrow Incident

On Tuesday, June 23, at 2:08 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting at 7245 Arizona St. in Brooksville. An argument between three residents of a compound led to Anthony Brian Adams, 46, allegedly using a compound bow to kill another person.

The incident involved Adams, who had a heated argument with a male and a female who had driven up from a different area of the compound. The female was driving. Adams retrieved a compound bow and fired an arrow through the passenger’s side window, striking the victim in the neck. According to Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis, the victim might have survived if the arrow had not been removed, either by Adams or the victim himself.

Adams claimed the shot was accidental and intended only to scare the two people in the car. He has an extensive criminal history, including criminal mischief, burglary, and battery, and was out on conditional release. The victim was a convicted sexual predator in Pinellas County in 1999.

Adams has been charged with manslaughter. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
