The Hernando County Fine Arts Council’s 41st Annual Art in the Park festival was held at Tom Varn Park in Brooksville, featuring local and out-of-state artists, musical performances, and hands-on activities for the whole family. The event took place over two days, with the council awarding cash prizes and ribbons to participants in a juried show.
The festival showcased an assortment of art and craft genres, including photography, watercolor, sculpture, fabric crafts, woodworking, and jewelry. Exhibitors ranged from professionals to hobbyists, with some being well-known and others being newcomers. A display of artwork by students from elementary through high school was also featured. Entertainment included performances by Stir Up the Gift, the Suzuki Strings, and Suncoast Harmony Chorus. Pinot’s Palette, a business in Brooksville, was the presenting sponsor of the event.
Festival-goers had the opportunity to participate in various activities, such as trying out musical instruments, getting their faces painted, and creating giant soap bubbles. Local businesses and organizations had tents displaying literature about their goods and services, with representatives answering questions. Food vendors were also available, offering a variety of options to quench thirst and satisfy hunger.
The Fine Arts Council awarded prizes on Sunday, with Nathan Leemis winning Best in Show and an Award of Excellence. The exact amount of cash prizes and the number of participants were not specified.
