Harold Wayne Lovell, 68, a convicted sex offender, was arrested on Monday in Spring Hill for failing to register as a sex offender. Detective Marcacci received information on June 29 that Lovell was staying at a residence on Catalina Street in Spring Hill. Lovell had an active felony warrant from Alabama for violating probation on an underlying burglary conviction.
Lovell was convicted in 1983 in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, of third-degree sexual assault. As a registered sexual offender, he is required to register with the local sheriff’s office within 72 hours of establishing a residence after moving to another state. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Lovell told investigators he had been living in Florida since February 2024 but had been in Hernando County for only two weeks. He was arrested on one count of failure to register as a sexual offender and was being held without bond.
