Wheystone Drive in Brooksville to Close April 13-15 for Stormwater Pipe Replacement

The Hernando County Department of Public Works will temporarily close Wheystone Drive between Manuel Street and Chipstone Street from Monday, April 13, through Wednesday, April 15. The three-day closure will allow crews to replace a stormwater pipe under the roadway in Brooksville.

The pipe replacement project aims to ensure the continued function of the county’s stormwater system and reduce flood risk in the area. County officials said the work is necessary to maintain proper drainage infrastructure along the busy corridor.

During the closure, northbound traffic will be detoured east along Manuel Street, reconnecting with Wheystone Drive at Chipstone Street. Southbound traffic will be detoured east along Chipstone Street, reconnecting with Wheystone Drive at Manuel Street.

Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes, allow extra travel time, and use caution when traveling near the work zone. The Hernando County Department of Public Works expects to complete the project and reopen the road by Wednesday evening, weather permitting.
