Citrus County, Florida – The race for Florida’s 23rd State Representative seat is heating up with two candidates vying for the position: incumbent JJ Grow and challenger Tod Cloud. According to their official biographies, both candidates have strong ties to Citrus County and have outlined their priorities for the campaign.
JJ Grow, the incumbent, has listed his top three priorities as affordability, protecting conservation and the environment, and public safety. Grow has received endorsements from the Florida Police Benevolent Association, Florida Professional Fire Fighters, and Citrus County Sheriff David Vincent, among others. He holds a BS in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida and has been involved in various community organizations, including the YMCA, Citrus County Blessings, and the United Way.
Tod Cloud, the challenger, has also listed his top priorities, which include campaign reform, term limits, and smaller government. Cloud has a GED and an Associate’s of Arts degree and has been involved in the Citrus County Teen Court Program, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Peer Leadership in Engineering. He has described himself as having a “big heart” for the community, youth, and environment.
The candidates’ differing backgrounds and priorities set them apart in the race. Grow has emphasized his experience, education, and leadership roles, while Cloud has highlighted his commitment to service and dedication to the citizens of Florida. Voters in Citrus County and beyond will have to decide which candidate best represents their interests.
