Traffic Stops Yield Drug Busts in Hernando County

Hernando County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted two separate traffic stops this past week that led to the discovery of a significant amount of drugs in both vehicles. On one occasion, a car entered an intersection collision scene, disregarding the commands of the deputy directing traffic. The driver exhibited severe physical impairment, refused sobriety testing, and was arrested. Inside the car, 94 grams of marijuana was found.

In another traffic stop, a K9 unit detected illegal narcotics, and a search of the vehicle yielded standard personal-use quantities of narcotics in the driver’s purse and over 36 grams of cocaine hidden on the passenger. Both individuals were arrested and charged. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office did not specify the exact dates or times of the traffic stops, but confirmed that the incidents occurred within Hernando County.
