Tax Collectors in Pasco County and across the Tampa Bay area are reporting issues with a state system called ‘Orion’, which helps them provide driver’s licenses, transfer titles, and other services. The issues began on Monday, March 11, 2024, and are expected to cause delays at DMV offices.
The Pasco County Tax Collector’s office, located at 5450 74th St, New Port Richey, confirmed that they are experiencing technical difficulties with the Orion system. “We are working diligently to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” said Pasco County Tax Collector, Mike Hawes. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate our customers’ patience.” The Hernando County Tax Collector’s office, located at 3520 W. Commercial Way, Brooksville, also reported issues with the system.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) said that the issues are due to a technical problem with the Orion system, which is used by tax collectors’ offices across the state. “The FLHSMV is working closely with the vendor to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” said a spokesperson for the FLHSMV.
The following locations may experience delays:
- Pasco County Tax Collector’s office, 5450 74th St, New Port Richey
- Hernando County Tax Collector’s office, 3520 W. Commercial Way, Brooksville
- Citrus County Tax Collector’s office, 2430 W. US 19, Crystal River
Customers are advised to check the FLHSMV website or contact their local tax collector’s office for updates on the status of the Orion system.
