NVR/Ryan Homes, LLC, of Tampa has recently applied to develop a 628-unit subdivision on 296 acres of land located at 33502 C.R. 52 in St. Leo. The property, which includes the Abbey Golf Course & Driving Range owned by the Order of St. Benedict (O.S.B.) of Florida, is situated across from St. Leo University.
Ryan Homes is seeking to change the Future Land Use (FLU) of the property from Permanently Open Land (POL), Agriculture (AG), and Medium Density Residential (MDR) to all MDR. They also want to change the property’s zoning from POL, AG, and MDR to Planned Unit Development (PUD). The proposed subdivision, called Mohr’s Crossing Planned Unit Development (PUD), would feature 128 attached single-family residences (townhomes) and 440 detached single-family residences. The development would be named in honor of Rt. Rev. Charles Henry Mohr, a former Abbot of St. Leo College and St. Leo’s Abbey.
The proposed subdivision would be developed on 57.98 acres of the property, with the townhouses located on the west side and the detached residences on the east side. A formal request for public hearings has not been made yet, but the changes would need to be prepared and legally advertised, providing dates for public hearings.
The development plans are available for review, and residents can attend public hearings to voice their opinions. More information can be found on the Town of St. Leo’s website or by contacting local government officials.
