On the eve of Independence Day, Alexandr Linnik, a special contributor to the Hernando Sun, reflected on what home truly means. For years, Linnik drove a box truck across America, observing how people lived, worked, and cared for their communities. His experiences led him to Florida, where he found a sense of familiarity in the rural landscapes.
Linnik, who was born and raised in the Ukrainian village of Velybivka, shared his story of searching for a place to call home. He described the ordinary lives of Americans, who reminded him of Ukrainians in their hard work, family values, and community pride. Linnik’s journey ultimately led him to Brooksville, where he now resides. He finds solace in the pine forests, sandy roads, and open pastures, which evoke memories of his childhood.
