The Pirates softball team secured their third consecutive district title on Monday night, with a convincing win at home against their rivals. The team, led by Coach John Smith, has been on a roll this season, with a impressive record of 20 wins and only 5 losses.
The Pirates took to the field at 6:00 PM at their home stadium, located at 123 Main St, Crystal River, and dominated the game from the start. The final score was 8-2, with the Pirates’ pitcher, Emily Johnson, throwing a stellar game, striking out 10 batters and allowing only 2 runs. The team’s captain, Sarah Lee, was also impressive, hitting a home run and driving in 3 runs.
The Pirates’ three-peat is a testament to their hard work and dedication. The team has been practicing for months, honing their skills and perfecting their strategy. Their efforts paid off, as they were able to outplay their opponents and take home the title. The team’s celebration will continue with a banquet on Friday at 7:00 PM at the Crystal River Community Center, located at 200 S. Pine Ave, Crystal River.
The Pirates will now move on to the regional tournament, where they will face off against the top teams from surrounding counties, including Hernando and Pasco. The tournament will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Pasco County Softball Complex, located at 5450 74th St, Port Richey. The team’s first game is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday.
