Nature Coast’s Justin Delery Wins Two Silver Medals at State Weightlifting Championship

Justin Delery, a senior at Nature Coast High School, finished as a state runner-up twice, in both Olympic (snatch and clean-and-jerk) and traditional (bench press and clean-and-jerk) weightlifting categories at the FHSAA Class 2A Boys Weightlifting Championship meet on Wednesday, May 6, at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

Delery had a positive outlook on his performance, saying, “I wish I would have gotten first in at least one of them, but at least I was the best overall. If you put Olympic and traditional together, my total was the best across the entire state.” Delery’s head coach, Chris Hawley, praised his athlete’s performance, noting that Delery hit a PR in clean-and-jerk by 25 pounds and ended his high school career with a strong performance.

Delery’s achievement is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport. His double silver medals mark a successful conclusion to his high school weightlifting career. The Nature Coast High School team was not locally available for comment, but sources indicate that Delery’s accomplishment has generated excitement and pride among his peers and coaches.
