The Citrus Springs Library is hosting a book sale on April 24-25. On Friday, April 24, the sale will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Additionally, there will be a 50/50 drawing on Saturday at 1 p.m. The library is also raffling off a handmade quilt, with tickets available for $5 each. The Citrus Springs Library is located at 1826 W. Country Club Blvd., Citrus Springs.
The Citrus County Abuse Shelter Association (CASA) is seeking donations of household and cleaning supplies, as well as food and personal care items. Donations can be dropped off at the CASA Outreach office, 1100 E. Turner Camp Road, Inverness, between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. An alternative drop-off location is Carol’s Interiors and Floors, 6410 S. Suncoast Blvd. in Homosassa. CASA has also created an Amazon Wishlist for easy donations: a.co/c6Wobgs.
Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park will be celebrating Gopher Tortoise Day on Friday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to noon. Park rangers and volunteers will be in the Garden of the Springs with one of the park’s resident gopher tortoise ambassadors, offering educational opportunities and up-close encounters with this threatened species. The event is free, but regular admission is required to access the park.
Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, in cooperation with Citrus County Audubon Society, will host a bird walk on Pepper Creek Trail on Saturday, April 11, at 8 a.m. An experienced birder from Citrus County Audubon will lead the walk. Participants should meet at 7:45 a.m. at the entrance to the park’s Visitor Center. The bird walk is free and open to the public.
