Inmate Facing Child Sex Charges Dies in Jail

Nathan Holmberg, a 34-year-old Spring Hill man, was found unresponsive inside the Falkenburg Road Jail in Hillsborough County on March 30, 2026. He was discovered by detention staff and transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Holmberg was facing dozens of child sex charges at the time of his death. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident as an apparent suicide. The case has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of inmates in the jail.
