A homicide investigation was launched after a fire in Floral City on Monday night. The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office reported that the fire occurred at a residence on Southeast 5th Avenue in Floral City, around 10:30 p.m. Deputies and firefighters responded to the scene, where they found a 59-year-old man suffering from smoke inhalation.
The victim, identified as Michael Eugene Satterfield, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The investigation revealed that the fire was intentionally set, and Satterfield was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a suspect in connection with the fire and Satterfield’s death.
