A high-speed chase ended in an arrest and drug seizure on Monday night in Crystal River, Citrus County. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Northeast 1st Avenue and Northeast 5th Street.
The driver, 22-year-old Tyler James Smith, was taken into custody after a short pursuit by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities reported that Smith was operating a vehicle that matched the description of one involved in a previous incident. During the stop, deputies discovered a quantity of drugs and other contraband.
The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Crystal River Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol during the incident. Smith was charged with multiple counts, including possession of controlled substances and fleeing from law enforcement.
