The Hernando-Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization has announced two public meetings scheduled for April 23, 2026, to discuss regional transportation planning initiatives affecting Hernando and Citrus counties. The Technical Advisory Committee will convene at 8:30 a.m., followed by a joint meeting of the Citizens Advisory Committee and Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee at 10:30 a.m.
The Technical Advisory Committee meeting will focus on transportation planning matters that impact the region’s infrastructure development and funding priorities. This committee provides technical expertise and recommendations to support the MPO’s decision-making process for transportation projects throughout both counties.
The joint Citizens Advisory Committee and Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee meeting will address community input on transportation initiatives, with particular emphasis on bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure improvements. These advisory committees serve as vital links between residents and transportation planners, ensuring public concerns and suggestions are incorporated into regional planning decisions.
The Metropolitan Planning Organization coordinates transportation planning efforts across Hernando and Citrus counties, working to improve mobility and safety for residents in communities including Brooksville, Spring Hill, Weeki Wachee, Inverness, and Crystal River. The organization oversees federal transportation funding allocation and develops long-range transportation plans for the region.
Residents interested in participating in the transportation planning process are encouraged to attend these public meetings. Additional information about meeting locations and agendas will be available through Hernando County Government and the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners websites as the meeting date approaches.
