Gangster drama unfolds at Ruth’s Speakeasy in Inverness

Under Siege Enterprises will open “Slain at the Speakeasy,” an interactive murder-mystery, on June 5 at the Valerie Theatre in downtown Inverness, Citrus County, Florida. The show, written by Kari Williamson and Nate Schierman, is set in 1928 at Ruth’s Speakeasy, where gangsters are quarreling, a chanteuse is singing, a cigarette girl is circulating, and a cop is trying to keep things under control.

The story revolves around the death of Bugsy, a character played by Sean Walsh, and the audience is invited to come dressed in 1920s attire, with prizes awarded for the best costumes. The play is produced by Under Siege Enterprises, with Charles Niski producing shows by Williamson and Stefanie Austin, and by Austin alone. Niski finds the women’s plays appealing because they are interactive murder-mysteries that seem more contemporary than most, and the identity of the killer is not as obvious as it often is.

The cast includes David Hence, Devin Hoke, Os Durares, Allexis Wolfe, and Gutz DeBarge, who play various characters, including mob bosses Frankie and others. Walsh’s character, Bugsy, works for two mob bosses and “likes to live dangerously.” The show aims to provide an immersive experience for the audience, who will try to solve the mystery of who killed Bugsy.

The Valerie Theatre is located in downtown Inverness, and the show is expected to be a unique and engaging experience for the audience. More information about the show and tickets can be found on the Under Siege Enterprises website or by visiting the Valerie Theatre’s website.
