The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) captured an alligator believed to have bitten a woman in Crystal River on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Monday night, around 10:30 p.m., at 1100 Northwest 2nd Avenue in Crystal River. The alligator, a 7-foot male, was captured on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. near the same location. According to the FWC, the alligator was removed from the area and will be relocated to a more suitable environment.
The woman who was bitten is 82-year-old Crystal River resident, who was walking her dog when the incident occurred. She was treated for her injuries at a local hospital.
The FWC reminds residents and visitors to be aware of their surroundings and keep a safe distance from wildlife, especially alligators.
