Free Food Pantries and Hot Meals Available Across Citrus County

Several organizations across Citrus County are offering free food assistance to residents in need, with pantry hours, drive-through distributions, and hot meal programs available weekly at multiple locations throughout the area.

The Citrus County Veterans Coalition operates a food pantry at 1081 N. Paul St. in Inverness every Tuesday year-round and on the first and third Thursdays of each month, except July 1 through Sept. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon. All honorably discharged veterans or their surviving spouses may collect food items once per month and may register during normal opening hours. Residents with scheduling conflicts can contact Richard Floyd at 352-400-8952 to make alternate arrangements.

The Salvation Army runs a food pantry Monday through Thursday at 712 S. School Ave. in Lecanto, off State Road 44, with hours from 9 to 10:45 a.m. and 1 to 1:45 p.m. The organization also serves free hot meals every Tuesday from 4 to 5 p.m. at Daystar, located at 6751 W. Gulf to Lake Hwy. in Crystal River, and every Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Lions Club at 3705 S. Indiana Ave. in Homosassa. No registration is required, and families are welcome to request multiple meals.

Additional food resources are available at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Citrus Springs, which provides free boxes of food from its pantry. Residents can call the church at 352-489-4858 for details. North Oak Church in Citrus Springs also holds a free drive-through food distribution on the fourth Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. Residents should enter from North Citrus Springs Boulevard and exit onto North Elkcam Boulevard after receiving assistance. No church affiliation is required, and interested residents can call 352-489-1688 for more information.
