The Knights of Columbus Auxiliary is sponsoring a fashion show, “Anchors Away,” on May 2 at noon, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Lecanto, featuring fashions from Daystar Life Center of Citrus County’s thrift shop. For $20, attendees can buy a ticket to the event, which also includes lunch, prizes, a raffle, a photo booth, and a performance by the Na Olapa O Ka La Hawaiian dancers.
The fashion show aims to raise money for the charities the Auxiliary supports and for scholarships awarded to a graduating high school student and a woman seeking retraining at Withlacoochee Technical College. The Auxiliary’s Charities Committee, established in 2006, has given over $52,000 to local nonprofits since then. Some of the nonprofits include those in Citrus County. Co-president of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Denise Uva, said the event will feature fashions from Daystar Life Center of Citrus County’s thrift shop, located in Crystal River.
The Na Olapa O Ka La Hawaiian dancers, led by Carolyn Derrico, also known as Kalina, will perform at the event. Derrico said her dancers’ name translates to “Dancers of the Sun.” The fashion show will offer a variety of items for sale, including clothing, jewelry, and accessories, all donated to Daystar Life Center of Citrus County’s thrift shop.
For those interested in attending the event, tickets are available for $20. The event will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Lecanto, and attendees can enjoy lunch, prizes, and a photo booth, in addition to the fashion show and performance by the Na Olapa O Ka La Hawaiian dancers.
