The fire occurred on Monday night, around 10:30 p.m., at the Starkey Wilderness Park located at 14700 Starkey Road, Spring Hill, Florida 34607. According to officials, the fire was brought under control, but not before it burned a significant area of the preserve. The Starkey Wilderness Park is a 3,200-acre preserve that features hiking trails, a nature center, and opportunities for wildlife viewing. The park is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts in Pasco County. The fire did not affect any nearby homes or structures, but it did impact a portion of the park’s natural habitat.
Residents and visitors to the area are advised to check the park’s website or social media accounts for updates on the park’s status and any further information. The Pasco County Fire Rescue and Port Richey Fire Department worked together to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading.
