Westchase Boy Scout’s Instrument Drive Resonates Across Tampa Bay

WESTCHASE, Pasco County , Cameron Cowans, an eighth-grader at Farnell Middle School, is making a difference in his community through a musical initiative. As a saxophonist in two school bands, Cowans understands the importance of access to musical instruments.

Cowans, a Boy Scout, launched an instrument drive to collect new and gently used instruments for students in need. The drive, which began in January, has garnered significant support from the local community. Cowans aims to ensure that every student has the opportunity to participate in music programs, regardless of their financial situation.

The instrument drive has collected a substantial number of instruments, including saxophones, trumpets, and violins. Local music stores and residents have donated to the cause, and Cowans has also set up a drop-off location at the Westchase Community Center, 8864 Westchase Blvd.
