A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was injured during a traffic stop on Monday afternoon that escalated into a foot chase and multi-agency search, with two young children discovered inside the suspect vehicle. The incident occurred around 5:01 p.m. on Mariner Boulevard near Fuller Avenue in Spring Hill.
The trooper observed a vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver fled, leading to a high-speed pursuit. The suspect vehicle eventually crashed, and the driver, later identified as 28-year-old Tyler Jameson, fled on foot. A search ensued, involving multiple agencies, and Jameson was apprehended. During the search, troopers located two children, ages 4 and 6, inside the suspect vehicle.
The injured trooper, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, and charges against Jameson are pending. The children were taken into custody by the Florida Department of Children and Families for their safety and well-being.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies assisted in the search and arrest. The Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.
