Support Groups in Hernando, Pasco, and Citrus Counties

Several support groups are available in Hernando, Pasco, and Citrus counties for individuals dealing with various challenges. Co-Dependents Anonymous (CoDA) meets at 1 p.m. Wednesdays at Old Schoolhouse Community Center Club Recovery, 2415 N. Florida Ave., Hernando. The group is open to anyone seeking healthy and loving relationships, and the only requirement for membership is a desire for such relationships. The Tampa General Hospital Crystal River Parkinson’s support group meets at 3 p.m. the third Thursday of each month in the cafeteria, 6201 N. Suncoast Blvd., Crystal River. Those seeking information can call 352-576-5696. Additionally, Encompass Rehab Hospital of Springhill offers a stroke support group from noon to 1 p.m., with lunch provided, the third Thursday of each month at 12440 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. Topics for discussion include “FAST” education, safety, post-stroke fatigue and other deficits such as increased weakness, speech impairment and increased confusion.

A monthly stroke survivor and caregiver support group meets from 3-4 p.m. the last Tuesday of each month at ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Lecanto, 3967 W. Norvell Bryant Highway, Lecanto (next door to YMCA). These groups provide a caring environment for individuals and caregivers to connect with others living with the effects of stroke, share similar experiences, and offer support.
