Spring Arrives with Vibrant Pinot Noir at Wallace’s at the Greenhouse

As daylight stretches into the evening and the air turns warmer, it can only mean one thing , spring has arrived in Citrus County. And in many wine enthusiasts’ books, spring is Pinot Noir season. Few wines capture the freshness of the season quite like Pinot Noir. With its vibrant notes of cherry, raspberry, and cranberry layered over silky tannins and bright acidity, Pinot Noir is a red wine that drinks beautifully with a slight chill and pairs effortlessly with everything from grilled fish to herb-roasted meats.

Recently, a dinner at Wallace’s at the Greenhouse, located at 2420 S. Suncoast Blvd. in Homosassa, Citrus County, reminded me why good food and good wine make the perfect combination. The evening featured a visit on an unspecified date in March 2026. From the “Nibbles” menu, guests enjoyed the Wallace hummus, crispy yuca fries and ahi tuna carpaccio , each dish thoughtfully prepared and beautifully balanced. For entrées, the swordfish special was cooked perfectly with just the right seasoning, while the flatiron steak was tender and flavorful. Portions were generous, and pricing was more than fair for the quality delivered. With a very reasonable $20 corkage fee, guests brought along a bottle of Sea Smoke Ten Vineyard Pinot Noir to enjoy with their starters, followed by the always-impressive Justin Isosceles.

Some standout Pinot Noir bottles to look for this season include:

  1. Sea Smoke Ten Vineyard Pinot Noir
  2. Justin Isosceles

Service at Wallace’s was warm and attentive , the server, a lively transplant from New Jersey, added to the fun atmosphere. It was one of those relaxed evenings filled with laughter, great food and memorable wine. The restaurant will absolutely be a place to return to for future dining experiences.
