Powell Road Resurfacing Project to Begin November 3, 2025 in Brooksville

The Hernando County Department of Public Works will begin a major resurfacing project on Powell Road starting Monday, November 3, 2025. The roadway improvement work will span from California Street to the SR 589 Bridge and is expected to continue through the end of June 2026, weather permitting.

The comprehensive project includes milling and resurfacing of the existing pavement, along with the addition of 4-foot paved shoulders on both sides of the roadway. These improvements are designed to enhance safety and traffic flow along this heavily traveled corridor in the Brooksville area.

Motorists traveling through the construction zone should expect periodic lane closures and delays during active construction hours. The Department of Public Works advises drivers to use caution, obey all posted signage, and allow extra travel time when using Powell Road during the eight-month construction period.

The public will receive notifications of any project delays that may extend the anticipated June 2026 completion date. The Department of Public Works expressed appreciation for the community’s patience and cooperation as these important infrastructure improvements are completed to benefit local residents and commuters.
