New Port Richey, Port Richey Mayors Face Challenges in Upcoming Elections

The mayors of New Port Richey and Port Richey are facing challenges for their posts in the upcoming elections. In New Port Richey, incumbent Mayor Chopper Davis will face challengers Marlowe Jones, Daisy Thomas, and Kelly Timmons. In Port Richey, Mayor John Eric Hoover is facing a challenge from Linda Rodriguez.

The election in both communities will take place on April 14. A candidate forum is scheduled for 6 p.m. on March 30 at the Richey Suncoast Theatre, 6237 Grand Blvd. The event will stream live on Zoom, TikTok, and Facebook. Incumbent Mayor Chopper Davis has served on New Port Richey’s city council for nine years, including two as deputy mayor. He established Jilly’s Tavern on Main Street and operated the business for nine years.

Candidates competing for mayoral positions in both communities are:

  1. New Port Richey: Chopper Davis, Marlowe Jones, Daisy Thomas, and Kelly Timmons
  2. Port Richey: John Eric Hoover and Linda Rodriguez

In Port Richey, Christine Sullivan will return to Seat 1 on the City Council after she was the only one to qualify for the post.
