Neighbors in Lutz Concerned About Distressed Raccoon

Neighbors in the Oak Grove neighborhood in Lutz, Pasco County, are worried about a sickly raccoon that’s been roaming around their front yards for four days. The raccoon has been spotted near several homes, including those on Oak Grove Boulevard and nearby streets, causing concern among residents.

The distressed raccoon was first seen on Monday night, and since then, it has been seen stumbling around the neighborhood, appearing disoriented and weak. “It’s been four days now, and we’re getting worried,” said one resident, who wished to remain anonymous. “We don’t know what’s wrong with it, but it looks like it’s suffering.” Pasco County Animal Control has been notified, but so far, they have not taken action. Residents are advised to keep a safe distance from the raccoon and not attempt to touch or feed it.

Residents are concerned about the potential risks of having a wild animal roaming around their neighborhood, especially if it has rabies or another disease. “We just want it to be taken care of,” said another resident. “We don’t want anyone to get hurt, and we don’t want the raccoon to suffer.” The Pasco County Health Department and local animal control services are working together to address the situation. Anyone with concerns or information is encouraged to contact Pasco County Animal Control at (727) 861-3667.
