On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the Nature Coast Technical High School baseball team improved to 6-0 with a 3-1 victory against previously unbeaten Hernando at Sharks Field in Spring Hill, Florida. Junior left-hander Mario DeAngelis pitched a stellar game, allowing just one hit and striking out eight over five and two-thirds scoreless innings.
DeAngelis, 16, was limited to 95 pitches due to a mandatory pitch count and came out of the game after throwing 93 pitches, most of them strikes. He attributed his success to the Elite Fuego Pitching Lab, where he worked out last summer, saying they helped him become a pitcher, not just a thrower, and taught him to trust his stuff and confidence.
Nature Coast coach Dan Garofano praised DeAngelis, saying he has been working hard for a long time to get to where he is and was ready for the moment. DeAngelis ran into some trouble in the third inning but managed to pitch out of it. The Sharks’ bats also came through, with Noah Sanchez, 9, hitting a home run in a previous game on Friday, February 20, 2026.
The win keeps Nature Coast unbeaten, while Hernando falls to 5-1. The game was a great matchup between two previously unbeaten teams in Hernando County.
