SPRING HILL – Nature Coast Technical High School senior Gabby Dross made school history Monday night, February 2, 2026, becoming only the fourth girls basketball player to score 1,000 career points while leading the Sharks to a dominant 55-26 victory over Hudson Cobras in the 4A District 9 quarterfinals. Dross scored 26 points in the playoff win at Nature Coast Technical High School in Spring Hill.
“It feels incredible,” said Dross after reaching the milestone. “I have actually been playing since I was little. So, just to reach that goal I have been planning this whole senior year to end with felt amazing. It felt like the goal I reached was the main prize.” The achievement caps off years of dedication for the senior guard who has been a driving force for the Columbia Blue throughout her high school career.
The Nature Coast Sharks (9-15) completely dominated the Hudson Cobras (6-18) in the quarterfinal matchup, advancing to the next round of district playoffs. Head Coach Emily Gore praised her star player’s impact on the team’s success. “Obviously, Gabby is our best player,” Gore said. “She kind of drives us. When she is on, things are so much easier for” the entire squad.
In a season filled with ups and downs for the Sharks, Dross’ historic achievement serves as an exclamation point on what has been a challenging but memorable year. The milestone puts her in elite company among Nature Coast Technical High School girls basketball players, joining only three others who have reached the 1,000-point mark in school history.
The Sharks will look to continue their playoff run with Dross leading the charge, hoping her scoring prowess and leadership can carry the team deeper into the district tournament. For now, the senior can celebrate both a team victory and a personal achievement that will be remembered long after her high school career ends.
