A 51-year-old Webster man fled from Florida Highway Patrol troopers and abandoned his motorcycle after a traffic stop attempt in Brooksville on February 7, 2026. Stanley Winston Duket was observed speeding and illegally passing other traffic on U.S. 301 near Ranchette Boulevard at 7:20 a.m. when a trooper attempted the stop.
Duket fled from the trooper and eventually abandoned his motorcycle at 8037 Treiman Boulevard in Brooksville. The suspect then ran into a nearby wooded area, prompting an extensive search effort by Florida Highway Patrol troopers and deputies from both Hernando and Sumter counties.
Despite the multi-agency search operation, Duket was not located and remains at large. The incident highlights ongoing traffic safety concerns along the busy U.S. 301 corridor, which serves as a major thoroughfare through Hernando County connecting communities from Brooksville to the Sumter County line.
Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Duket. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol by calling FHP or Crime Stoppers at TIPS.
