On Monday morning, just before 11:30 a.m., a grass fire ignited by an unauthorized burn in the 8000 block of Fort Dade Avenue in Brooksville sent one resident to a burn center. Firefighters responded quickly and were able to extinguish the flames, preventing damage to the nearby home. Despite the fast containment, a resident sustained burns while attempting to extinguish the fire.
The resident was airlifted to a burn center for treatment. The fire was reportedly caused by an unauthorized burn, which sparked the grass fire. The Hernando County Fire Department responded to the scene and was able to contain the fire quickly.
