Local Resident Finds Success with Low-Maintenance Jade Plants

A Hernando County resident is defying their own reputation as a plant killer with the help of jade plants. The individual, who wishes to remain anonymous, has had trouble keeping plants alive in the past, but their jade plants seem to thrive under their care – or lack thereof.

The resident’s husband, Peter, suggested they put the jade plants outside on the balcony during the summer. Despite being exposed to harsh wind, strong sun, and neglect, the plants flourished. The resident even forgot to water them, but they continued to grow. In fact, the jade plants have become so successful that they may be trying to take over the resident’s home.

The jade plant’s ability to survive with minimal care has led the resident to wonder if they have finally found a plant that loves them back. While some may say that growing jade plants requires no skill, the resident’s past experience with killing other plants, including philodendrons and Christmas cacti, makes their success with jade plants all the more surprising.

The resident currently has eight jade plants on their balcony and has even started to cut them back and bring them into the living room. The plants’ resilience and ability to thrive in difficult conditions have made them a beloved addition to the resident’s home.
