Hernando County will host a sign unveiling ceremony at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 27, to commemorate the designation of a portion of California Street as Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway. The ceremony will take place at the corner of California Street and Powell Road, with parking available at Chocachatti Elementary School, 4135 California St.
The Hernando County Public Library System will be closed on Thursday, February 26, for Annual Staff Development Day training. The libraries will open on the next scheduled business day. In addition, two upcoming events offer something for everyone: the 2026 Weeki Wachee Swamp Festival and Art in the Park.
The 2026 Weeki Wachee Swamp Festival features arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment, food vendors, a kids zone, live chainsaw carving and blacksmithing, and the annual swamp monster contest with cash prizes. The festival runs Friday through Sunday, March 6-8, at 6400 Shoal Line Blvd., Spring Hill. Hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday and Saturday and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. General admission is $7 by debit or credit card or $6 cash for adults; $3 for children ages 6-12; free for children 5 and younger; and $3 for veterans and active-duty military, or free for those in full uniform.
Art in the Park celebrates fine art, craftsmanship, and community in a beautiful oak-lined setting with a relaxed, artsy atmosphere. The event features a wide variety of artistic works. It runs Saturday, March 14, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday, March 15, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at Tom Va.
