On Monday night, the Citrus County Board of Commissioners appointed five new members to the Library Advisory Board, passing over a local activist who had been a vocal advocate for change.

The new members, whose terms will run through 2026, are expected to help guide the library system’s strategic planning and community outreach efforts. Local resident and activist, Jennifer Johnson, had applied for a seat on the board but was not selected. “I’m disappointed but not surprised,” Johnson said, citing concerns over the board’s composition and its impact on the community.
