Brooksville, FL – The Hernando High baseball team dominated Seminole High School 13-2 in the second round of the Farm Bureau Insurance Baseball Classic at Emerson Field on Wednesday, March 19, 2026. With leadoff batter Waylon Williamson out due to a hip injury, coach Tim Sims had to make adjustments to the lineup, resulting in a 14-hit attack led by senior Austin Knierim, Jayden Allen, and Rhett Williams, each with three hits.
The Leopards, now 12-2, have won six straight games, scoring 66 runs over that period. Knierim, Allen, and Williams drove in a combined seven runs, with Allen driving in four and Williams and Knierim each knocking in three and two runs, respectively. The team did it without second baseman Waylon Williamson, who is normally the leadoff batter but was out with a hip injury.
The Leopards will advance to Thursday night’s semifinal round against Land O’ Lakes, who won 3-1 against South Sumter on Tuesday night. Sims praised his team’s performance at the plate, saying they’ve been swinging the bats well in recent games.
Allen, 15, made a notable catch to get out Hayden Winkle, 16, during the game. Other notable players included Michael Saltsman, 14, who hit the ball during the game.
