Lecanto High School has promoted Ryan Wyatt to head football coach, the school announced on Monday, March 18, 2024. Wyatt, a 10-year veteran of the Lecanto football program, previously served as the team’s defensive coordinator. He takes over for former head coach, whose name was not released.
Wyatt’s promotion was made official during a school board meeting held at 6:00 PM at the Citrus County School District offices, located at 1301 W. Woodland St, Inverness, FL 34450. According to sources, Wyatt’s appointment was widely supported by the school community, citing his extensive knowledge of the program and his ability to lead the team to success. During his tenure as defensive coordinator, Wyatt helped the team achieve several winning seasons and playoff appearances.
The Lecanto High School football team, which competes in Class 5A of the Florida High School Athletic Association, is set to begin its new season in late August.
