League of Women Voters Hosts Black History Month Event, Gilewitz Returns to Art Center Theatre

The League of Women Voters of Citrus County will host a special Black History Month presentation featuring Dr. BJ Ezell at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the Coastal Region Library, 8619 W. Crystal St., Crystal River. The event, titled “DEI: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow,” will explore the history, current state, and future of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles.

Dr. Ezell brings more than 50 years of experience as a healthcare professional and advocate to the presentation. The well-known community leader recently delivered a featured address at the Inverness Celebration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Her background as a registered nurse and healthcare consultant allows her to bridge community health and social equity topics. The public is invited to attend the free educational presentation.

In other community news, internationally recognized acoustic fingerstyle guitarist Richard Gilewitz will return to the Art Center Theatre of Citrus County for a special album release event on Friday, Feb. 20. The Washington Post has praised Gilewitz as “ear-boggling,” while Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine celebrates his “quick wit and twisted sense of humor.” The Citrus County favorite combines extraordinary musicianship with engaging storytelling and humor in his performances.

The evening will begin with a 7 p.m. meet-and-greet session before the main performance. Gilewitz’s shows blend technical brilliance with warmth and accessibility, creating memorable live music experiences. His performances feature fingerstyle guitar techniques that have earned him international recognition and a devoted following throughout Citrus County.
