The Inverness City Council received an update on the city’s asphalt resurfacing program, which is nearing completion, during their meeting on February 9, 2026. Public Works Director Rob Pell informed the council that weather-related delays had slowed progress earlier in the winter, but with improving conditions, only a handful of locations remain to be completed. These include a stretch between Montgomery Avenue and Main Street, an apron along Forest Drive in front of Whispering Pines, and the parking lot at City Hall.
The city manager, Eric Williams, and Pell assured residents that the remaining work will be done with minimal disruptions. The City Hall parking lot work will be done over two weekends, with advance notice posted on social media. The parking lot will be closed in sections, with half completed one weekend and the remainder the next. According to Pell, the resurfacing project remains on budget and has been monitored throughout construction, including inspections by the city’s engineering consultant.
In addition to the roadwork update, the council approved a hay lease renewal and an equipment purchase. The details of these approvals were not fully specified in the update. Council President Gene Davis and other council members were present during the meeting.
Residents can expect the completion of the asphalt resurfacing program to improve road conditions across the city. The city’s efforts to maintain and improve infrastructure are ongoing, with planning for roadwork in the next two years already in progress.
