Inverness Airport Projects Advance with Master Plan, Business Park, and Hangar

The Citrus County Aviation Advisory Board received updates on several major projects at Inverness Airport, including a long-range master plan, a 75-acre business park expansion, a new corporate hangar, and a planned fire station.

Consultants told board members the airport’s master plan is moving into its most visible phase, while construction on the business park could begin as early as late March or early April. Alex Vacha of Infrastructure Consulting Engineering said the airport’s 20-year master plan is beginning to take shape after recent committee meetings focused on forecasts, inventory, and facility requirements.

“It’s starting to get to the point of being exciting,” Vacha said. “We just started to get into some development alternatives.” He said brainstorming sessions included new ideas about reconfiguring the access road and potentially revitalizing the animal shelter, once a new shelter is built, for a new use over the next two decades.

The business park expansion, located off Watson Street, broke ground in November 2025. The project aims to provide a new hub for businesses and industries in the area. Additionally, a new corporate hangar is being constructed, and plans for a fire station are underway.

The Inverness Airport is located in Citrus County, Florida, and serves as a vital transportation hub for the region. The airport’s master plan and development projects are expected to enhance its facilities and services, contributing to the local economy.
