A 64-year-old Brooksville man with more than a dozen prior arrests in Hernando County, many involving violent or drug-related charges, is back behind bars after deputies say he threatened to “cut their heads off” while brandishing a machete during a domestic dispute on Monday night.
According to an arrest affidavit filed by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on County Road 578 in Brooksville around 10:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the suspect, identified as Michael Lee Wilson, 64, of Brooksville, who allegedly threatened to “cut their heads off” while holding a machete.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office has not released the name of the victim, but reports indicate that the incident was a domestic dispute. Wilson was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony. He is being held at the Hernando County Detention Center.
Wilson has a lengthy arrest history in Hernando County, with over 15 prior arrests, many involving violent or drug-related charges. His prior charges include multiple counts of battery, assault, and possession of controlled substances.
