Hernando County Warming Center Reopens Saturday Night at Brooksville Enrichment Center

Hernando County Emergency Management will reopen its Warming Center on Saturday, February 7, at 8 p.m. in response to prolonged cold weather conditions expected to bring freezing temperatures to the region. The center, located at the Enrichment Center at 800 John Gary Grubbs Blvd. in Brooksville, will remain open overnight until 8 a.m. Sunday, February 8, providing a safe place for community members to stay warm.

The warming center will remain closed on Thursday, February 6, and will not operate that day. Hernando County Transit (TheBus) will provide free transportation to and from the warming center, picking up residents at 8 p.m. from the Walmart located at 7305 Broad St. in Brooksville and returning them to the same location at 8 a.m. the following morning. However, TheBus will not operate on Sunday, February 1, and transportation services will not be available that day.

In addition to the warming center, several locations throughout Hernando County are distributing free cold weather supplies including gloves, hand warmers, socks and blankets. People Helping People, located at 1396 Kass Circle in Spring Hill, is among the distribution sites offering these essential items to residents in need during the cold snap.

The partnership between Hernando County Emergency Management and the city of Brooksville demonstrates the community’s commitment to protecting vulnerable residents during dangerous weather conditions. Residents seeking additional transportation information can visit TheBus website for complete details about routes and schedules during the cold weather emergency response.
