The scammer demands payment for a fake water inspection, often using high-pressure tactics to convince homeowners to pay immediately. The scam has been reported in multiple locations, including Brooksville, Spring Hill, and Dade City.
The Hernando County Government urges residents to be cautious and verify the identity of anyone claiming to be a water inspector. Legitimate water inspectors will provide a written notice and identification before conducting an inspection.
