On Friday, Feb. 13, Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) responded to three structure fires in Brooksville, testing the department’s resources and response time. The first fire occurred just before 4 p.m. in the 5000 block of Cyril Drive, while the second and third fires happened just after 4 p.m. in the 18000 block of Spangler Avenue, also in Brooksville.
HCFR crews worked to extinguish the flames and prevent further damage to the homes and surrounding areas. The causes of the fires are not specified, but they can occur for a variety of reasons, including electrical malfunctions, cooking accidents, and unattended candles. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in connection with these incidents.
The response to these simultaneous fires highlights the importance of having a well-trained and equipped fire rescue team in place. HCFR’s quick response and effective action likely minimized damage and prevented more serious consequences.
