Fuel Service Restored at Crystal River Airport

Fuel service has been restored at the Crystal River Airport after a holiday-season equipment failure. James Chen, the airport’s fixed base operator, said both aviation fuel types, 100 low lead for piston engine aircraft and Jet-A fuel for turbine-powered planes, are now back online. The outage occurred just before Christmas and lasted for two months.

The airport’s fuel system is undergoing a larger overhaul, with a fuel tank replacement project nearing its end of planning phase. Todd Regan, project manager with the county’s aviation division, said construction is scheduled to begin June 23 and is set to be completed by January 8, 2027. The project aims to improve the airport’s fuel infrastructure.

The Crystal River Airport provides essential services to pilots and aircraft owners in the region. The airport’s restoration of fuel service is a significant relief for the aviation community. The airport continues to move forward with several major projects, including runway work and long-range development planning.

The Aviation Advisory Board meeting also discussed updates on the Inverness Airport and the county’s aviation system. Officials and consultants provided information on the progress of various projects, including the fuel farm replacement and runway work.
