Free tire drop-off event aims to stop mosquitoes before summer surge in Pasco County

Pasco County Mosquito Control is hosting a free tire drop-off week for residents, giving people a chance to safely get rid of old tires that can quickly become breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The event started on Monday and will run through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the Pasco County Public Works facility located at 3944 Gulf-to-Gulf Boulevard in Odessa.

The district is asking residents to help stop mosquitoes before they have a chance to multiply. Officials said discarded tires can collect water and become a prime spot for mosquitoes to lay eggs. Pasco County Mosquito Control will accept up to 10 tires per resident, and residents are encouraged to remove all metal and debris from the tires before dropping them off. This event is part of Pasco County’s efforts to prevent mosquito-borne illnesses and reduce the mosquito population in the area.

Residents can also contact Pasco County Mosquito Control at (727) 893-7500 for more information on mosquito control and prevention. Additionally, residents can visit the Pasco County Mosquito Control website for more information on the free tire drop-off event and other mosquito control initiatives.

By participating in this event, residents can help prevent the spread of mosquito-borne illnesses and keep their communities safe. Pasco County Mosquito Control encourages all residents to take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of old tires and help reduce the mosquito population.
