A firefighter was taken to a hospital after battling a two-alarm house fire that broke out in a garage and spread into the attic in Lutz, Florida, on Monday night. The fire occurred at a residence in the 2000 block of Woodbridge Drive, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.
The firefighter was hospitalized as a precautionary measure after being exposed to smoke and heat during the firefighting efforts. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The two-alarm fire required multiple units from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue to respond and extinguish the blaze. No other injuries were reported, and the homeowner was not displaced.
The fire started around 10:30 p.m. and was brought under control by 11:45 p.m. The American Red Cross was on scene to assist with any needs of the homeowner. The Florida Firefighters’ Safety Board and the Lutz Fire Department are also assisting with the investigation.
