A disturbing case of animal neglect has led to the arrest of a Floral City woman after deputies found dozens of dead animals on her property. On February 18, Citrus County deputies responded to a report of a possible animal rescue situation at a home in Floral City. Upon arrival, they found multiple dead animals, including dogs, cats, and horses.
The owner of the property, 51-year-old Lisa Johnson, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty. According to deputies, Johnson had been operating an animal rescue operation at her home, but conditions were found to be unsanitary and inhumane. The investigation revealed that many of the animals had died due to neglect and lack of proper care. Johnson is being held at the Citrus County Detention Center.
