Dozens of Animals Found Dead in Floral City, Owner Arrested

A disturbing case of animal neglect has led to the arrest of a Floral City woman. On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, Citrus County deputies responded to a report of a large number of dead animals at a property in Floral City. Upon arrival, they found dozens of animals, including dogs, cats, and horses, had died due to neglect.

The owner of the property, 51-year-old Lisa Johnson, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty. According to deputies, Johnson had been operating an animal rescue operation at her property, but conditions were found to be unsanitary and inhumane. The investigation revealed that Johnson had failed to provide adequate food, water, and shelter for the animals, leading to their deaths.
